The Loire Valley sculpted in tufa stone
Pierre et Lumière is one of the most beautiful “troglodyte” sites in Saumur. You will cover the equivalent of 200 kilometres, in Anjou then in Touraine and discover around twenty sculptures representing the most beautiful monuments of the Loire Valley carved in the tufa stone. A veritable troglodyte walk under the town of Saumur, within a unique place which promotes the heritage of the Loire and Saumur.
This underground miniature park was born from the meeting of two passionate men: Yann Bouchard had the idea, Philippe Cormand knew how to sculpt.
A lover and native of the troglodyte region, Yann Bouchard is passionate about construction. His idea was to present the most beautiful monuments of the Loire Valley, at the very heart of the material of their construction: tufa, the emblematic rock of our troglodyte cellars.
Philippe Cormand is from Brittany. He sculpts stone, wood and ice. He has won awards in numerous international competitions, but it is certainly at Pierre et Lumière that he gave the full measure of his talent.
